Many times, it is hard to describe your clinical anxiety or depression to your Pastor or members of your small group at church.

How can you tell someone that your faith, the core of your being, seems to have let you down without looking like you are giving up on it?

Through insolence comes nothing but strife,
But wisdom is with those who receive counsel.

Proverbs 13:10

You believe with all your soul that your prayers can change your depression and others say you are in their prayers, but you are still struggling to get out of bed. You are still struggling to put a smile on your face. The depression never looks like it’s going to change, and it’s getting harder and harder to keep writing that as your prayer request.

Battling depression, anxiety, trauma, or negative emotional health does not mean you’re a terrible follower of Christ. There are many things that can cause these “thorns in the side” and there are many ways to cope with them.

At Mending Clinic, our view of spiritual counseling is not using a “Bible verse Band-aid” approach. Our spiritual counseling means digging in to the core of our Christian faith and help you apply Biblical values to your depression or anxiety.

For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And his name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Prayer can move mountains, and sometimes spiritual guidance is how God speaks to us. Maybe now is the best time to turn to a religious counselor, who can help you see what you and others have missed.

Your life was created to bring honor to our Father and introduce others to Christ. Can you make a greater impact to the Heavenly Kingdom if you were emotionally healthier and happier?
